Dr. Hong Shyang Pei is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in chemistry, currently serving as an assistant Professor at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Brunei Darussalam. She holds a PhD in Chemistry, an MSc in Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Science (Distinction), and a BSc in Education (Hons) majoring in Chemistry.

Her teaching methodology integrates project-based, problem-based, game-based, and flipped classroom techniques, incorporating interactive learning tools like augmented reality for enhanced student engagement. She has supervised final-year research projects and has been recognized for his effective teaching pedagogy, achieving high peer review ratings.

As the Programme Leader for BSc Agrotechnology, Dr. Hong plays a pivotal role in curriculum development, international collaborations, and student placements. She has established partnerships with institutions such as Osaka University and Universiti Putra Malaysia, expanding global opportunities for students.

Dr. Hong’s research focuses on biosensors and food immunosensors, with publications in Q1 and Q2 journals, accumulating 108 citations and an h-index of 5. She has also contributed a book chapter to the Royal Society of Chemistry.
