Margaret Camilleri Fenech

Margaret’s passion for environmental issues began in her early school years and deepened during her studies for a bachelor's degree in Economics and Management, which she completed in 1999. She later pursued a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management at Lund University, Sweden.

Her professional career started at WasteServ Malta Ltd, where she successfully led two EU-funded projects, including the introduction of civic amenity sites in Malta. After a decade in government, she transitioned to academia, joining the University of Malta as a lecturer. She teaches various subjects, including food systems, waste management, and the politics of environmental issues.

In 2020, Margaret earned a doctoral degree from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, focusing on waste flows and their link to economic policies. Currently, she is actively involved in research projects covering topics such as construction and demolition waste, the relationship between waste and economic growth, and food waste management.
